AGUASCALIENTES, Mexico - Rogelio Lopez won the pole award in Toyota NASCAR Series qualifying at the Nuevo Autódromo de Aguascalientes on Saturday.
Lopez, driver of the No. 48 CI Banco/Boing Toyota, turned in a lap of 24.490 seconds (128.624 mph) as the field was set for Sunday’s Aguascalientes 240.
Antonio Perez was second quickest in the qualifying session, with a lap of 24.513 seconds (128.503 mph). He was followed by Jorge Goeters, Jose Luis Ramirez and Ruben Garcia Jr. Hugo Oliveras, Ruben Pardo, Patrick Goeters, Rafael Martinez and Ruben Rovelo completed the top 10.
Jorge Goeters leads the championship standings in the series, with Daniel Suarez in second and Homero Richards third. Rovelo is fourth in points, followed by Patrick Goeters.
This race is the sixth event on a 14-race schedule for the NASCAR Toyota Series.
